Bridging the Healthcare Gap in Rural Uganda
We are a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, mentors, and community workers committed to improving health outcomes in rural Uganda. With extensive experience in training, treating, diagnosing, and capacity building, we empower primary health workers with the latest knowledge and practical skills to deliver quality care where it is needed most.

Equitable healthcare provision remains a significant challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in rural Uganda, where over 70% of the population resides. Most health facilities are concentrated in urban centers, leaving rural communities vulnerable to both infectious diseases—such as Ebola—and the rising burden of Non-Communicable Diseases.
Uganda’s doctor-to-patient ratio stands at 1:24,000, with equally limited numbers of nurses, midwives, and laboratory staff. While government and not-for-profit facilities are better structured, they are often congested, under-resourced, and far from reach. Private clinics, although more accessible, are typically small, with limited staff and limited access to ongoing training or mentorship.
Hecami Foundation exists to close this gap by building the capacity of rural primary health workers. Through training, mentorship, and continuous professional development, we empower them to screen, diagnose, manage, and make timely referrals—ensuring that even the most remote communities can access quality healthcare.
