In many communities we serve, pregnancy and childbirth remain a dangerous journey. Expectant mothers walk many kilometers to overcrowded health centers, risking complications and often arriving too late. The Hecami Foundation is committed to changing this reality.
We are proud to announce our new Maternal & Child Health Project—an initiative designed to make safe, respectful maternity care accessible to every mother, regardless of distance or poverty.
What We’re Building
A Fully-Fledged Maternity Wing
We are establishing a dedicated maternity facility equipped to conduct safe, normal deliveries for low-risk pregnancies. This wing will bring professional obstetric care to mothers’ doorsteps, eliminating the dangerous journey to overcrowded regional health centers. Every mother deserves to give birth in a clean, safe environment with trained attendants—and we’re making that possible.
An Accessible Antenatal Clinic
Alongside the maternity wing, we’re operationalizing a comprehensive antenatal clinic offering:
- Basic pregnancy screening and monitoring
- Essential medications for pregnant women
- Professional guidance throughout pregnancy
- All at an affordable cost of just $2 per month
This pricing reflects our core belief: quality prenatal care should never be a luxury reserved for the wealthy.
Why This Matters
Maternal mortality and complications from pregnancy remain leading causes of death among women in many of our communities. When mothers cannot access early prenatal care or safe delivery services, entire families suffer. Children lose their mothers. Babies are born without proper medical support.
By bringing respectful maternity care closer to home, we’re not just delivering babies—we’re protecting lives, preserving families, and giving mothers the dignity and safety they deserve.
